The pretty fishie in the photo is a Two-bar Anemonefish (Amphiprion bicinctus) from the Red Sea.

ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty fish, I'm glad you found it. Were you diving in the Red Sea to get it (the picture) yourself?
I have been near your Puako Beach, perhaps on it. I have circled the Big Island (Hawaii) in the late 80's.
We spent a week camped at the Mona Kea State Park too. It was wonderful. And jogging/running in the mountains, I went for miles and miles. Sooooo nice.

ReplyDeleteTo those who thought the fish resembled Nemo, in fact the little guy in my photo is a first cousin to the species that the Nemo character was based on (same Genus).
@ jim - Hope you get an opportunity to visit our island again some time. It has changed quite a bit since the time when you were here -- but the mountains and the ocean are everlasting.
And yes, all of the underwater photos on this blog were taken by me (over a period of nearly 20 years).
