Good morning Bobbie and Jerry,What a great shot of the cool blue reef... Blue is my favorite color. Thanks for your visit to my place and a Happy Halloween. Baba
Just beautiful, Bobbie & Jerry! No reef I've ever snorkeled looked like that! I don't know if you've told people before how you get all these shots but will you tell it again ...for me?
Thanks for commenting on my WW photo. Yes, the gravel spit that Kotzebue is located on is rather exposed to the elements. Luckily we are well within Kotzebue Sound which is relatively shallow and sheltered from big seas. We do have a few isssues with high water here and there and an occasional storm that brings in some rough surf, but we don't have nearly the erosion issues that communities like Shishmaref and Kivalina face. We do have erosion, and the shape and size of the Kotzebue spit has changed over recorded history, but it is much slower than in other places.
Thanks to all of our Wordless Wednesday visitors, and Happy Halloween to all of you.
@ Baba & Hootin'Anni - Blue is my favorite color, but I supposed you guessed that.
@ Yuko - Your Halloween edition of Wordless Wednesday certainly is colorful. Well done.
@ Kathy - Actually it was a sort of forest, dominated by these big sea fans, and soft corals that were quite a bit taller than usual.
@ Mary (the teach) -- I don't mean to sound flippant, but the process is: Put on dive gear, grab camera, jump into the water, and shoot! If you are looking for more technical details about the shots, I guess I am remiss in not providing them. I'm usually more focused on telling details about the creatures or the place, rather than about things like lenses and camera settings.
@ Cathy (tundratantrum) - Thanks for that detailed explanation. I'm learning a lot about the arctic environment/way of life from your blog. I encourage everyone else to visit it, too.
The Right Blue refers to the goal of a lifelong pursuit. Sea water viewed from beneath the surface comes in many hues and shades. Surfers wait for the perfect wave; divers seek the right blue.
For Halloween: A spooky reef scene.
