We have the good fortune to live near the ocean, and we have spent countless hours in, under, and near the sea. Our perspective as divers has prompted a special interest in certain issues related to ocean health and conservation.
We decided that today, World Oceans Day, would be a good day to reprise some of what we have written in the past two years about ocean conservation issues. Here are some examples of our concerns:
- Do your part to reduce marine debris
- More on marine debris (with pictures of what we have seen underwater)
- Sea turtle conservation
- Responsible vs irresponsible spearfishing
Here is a lovely video with images of the ocean and some of its inhabitants. We hope you enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteHappy World Oceans Day to you, Bobbie and Jerry!
ReplyDeleteHappy World Oceans Day. I am glad you are doing so much toward conserving this rather unknown part of the world.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful slide show - thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteWe already carry poopy bags everywhere we go. Filling one with garbage whenever we visit a beach wouldn't be so hard.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the awareness makes a difference. What wonderful photos in that clip. I'm a little partial to the ones of the whales. :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about this, but kudos for drawing people's attention to it. We're thrashing the oceans as badly, if not worse than the land, good on you for pointing it out!
