They look like whips, they are very pretty. Since they are soft are they no good for carving?
Happy WW, thank you for visiting and leaving your questioning comment.
The machine I found was sitting on the RR tracks on the Italian Riviera, at Cornigulia I believe. I have no idea what it was, it seemed to be used for RR maintenance. We could call it a motorized handcar? ..
Beautiful shot. I love the contrasting colors. I'm curious, though. Do they sway in the water (thus being called "whips") or are they more solid and stiff?
I can see by the comments so far that you all are trying to figure out if these sea whips are soft or not. I probably confused the issue by mentioning that they are a kind of soft coral.
First, let me say that soft corals are "soft" relative to hard corals, but they are not squishy soft. Hard corals are the reef-building ones that build stony structures.
These particular sea whips are fairly rigid in structure (otherwise they would droop), but they're also flexible. They can bend in a current, for instance.
The Right Blue refers to the goal of a lifelong pursuit. Sea water viewed from beneath the surface comes in many hues and shades. Surfers wait for the perfect wave; divers seek the right blue.
Great shot.Absolutely beautiful as usual..Happy WW:)Thanks for stopping by my friend.
ReplyDeleteThat... is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for bringing it to the surface for the rest of us to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteCool and it's a great color. I'm wondering, I can't tell from the pic if it's kind of a stiff plant or flowy like some other undersea plants.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Watery Wednesday! :-)
Beautiful! The red with all the blue really stands out. It looks to me like it would be an irritant if you touched them?
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!

Hi Everyone -

Hope this clear things up a bit. ;-}
