  4. OK, that really looks like somebody slapped a splotch of florescent yellow paint on the side of the fish!

  6. Nice shot!
When I first looked at it without reading the note I thought to myself the yellow marking wasn't as neat as I would expect in nature.

  7. Cool. I assume it is an underwater photo?

  8. That's interesting to have a map of Africa on a fish! I wonder which African country though. It sure looks like it's been splashed on the fish. :) Happy WW, Bobbie.

  9. I have been to the Red Sea at Eilat, many years ago, and loved the glass tunnel you could walk into to view the fish and coral up close in their natural habitat. I really like this fish, too. Happy Watery Wednesday!

  20. I never would have guessed it, about the map thing. How interesting, and a unique looking fish.

  21. Thanks, everyone. I, too, think the yellow patch looks a little splotchy and irregular, but it does individualize these fishes, as no two are exactly alike.

@ Michael Bird -- Yes, it is an underwater photo.

@ Leedra -- It is fairly big, but not mean -- actually quite shy.

@ Scienceguy -- It's a design plotted by genetic info, of course -- just like the patterns on cows, and pinto ponies, and dogs, and cats, and... (You actually knew that, right?)
