WW #33 - Find the little fishy on the coral

Favites coral

  1. If you clicked on the photo to enlarge it, you were probably able to spot the teeny tiny fish just below the center of the picture. It's some kind of a Goby -- with incredibly big eyes for his size (about a half-inch long!).

The coral is of the genus Favites -- one of several kinds of coral commonly referred to as "brain coral." I took this photo in the Red Sea, near Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

    Happy WW!

  4. I found it!! It's almost invisible, except for the eyes. I think brain corals are common in the Philippines but I have never seen it like this close - very close! Great shot once again, Bobbie, and thanks for visiting earlier :)

  11. How in the world did you find this little fishie? Oh, I know, it was swimming around and was plain as Red Sea light.
You went halfway around the world to see this creature.

Happy WW! Thank you, Bobbke, for your visit.
    ..
BTW, have you seen this set of pictures (the owner misspelled 'swimming'):

  14. The question is did you know the fish was there when you took the picture or did you only notice him when you looked at the pictures later?
    Happy WW!

  17. I thought I could see him fine until I enlarged the picture, to learn that I'd only seen his eyes and vitals, and he's over twice the length I had first estimated.

  18. What a great picture! And yes, you can find the fish easily because of those big eyes. :-)

  27. Thank you all for visiting and for playing 'find the fish'. :-D

@ Neutral - Yep, that sure is a funny video, but we beat you to it. We posted it here on The Right Blue way back in October!

@ David M - Fish called 'Wander'? Groan...

@ Shannon - Hah! You caught me out! I was taking a macro shot of the coral and did not notice the fishie until afterward.
