This pretty sea bird is a White-faced Heron (Ardea novaehollandiae). It is the most common species of heron in New Zealand. I took the photo several days ago near Kaikoura, on New Zealand's South Island.Bobbie

Thanks for sharing the photo of the unique long necked bird. :DSerenaChatnChill
One of the things I am enjoying as we travel is seeing nature and how it is the same and yet different everywhere. I would instantly recognized this as a heron. We had a nesting pair of CRANKY great blue heron at our stock pond when I was a kid, a few run-ins while I was fishing gave me a healthy respect for them. I have seen birds in Indonesia that have the same body shape but smaller size and different coloring. Same but different.
The water is so clear! Nice shot :)
What a beautiful photo of the heron. In reading a bit on your sidebar it seems to enjoy the world under the sea. How amazing it must be to see the beautiful wonders down deep! Enjoy...
