Whenever I have posted a photo of this butterflyfish species people always ask, "Are they really that BRIGHT??"
ReplyDeleteYes, they are -- and they're also very reflective, which makes them hard to photograph. Too little flash and the fish look okay, but the background is too dark; too much flash, and the background may look okay but the fish are just a glaring yellow blob.
One good thing about their color: they sure are easy to spot underwater!
Happy WW, everyone.

ReplyDeleteButterflyfish, that's an interesting name for the species.
ReplyDeleteProbably got it's name from how the fins look pretty much like butterflies I guess.

ReplyDeleteThanks to all of our WW friends for visiting.
ReplyDelete@ Napaboaniya - The Butterflyfish family has many, many species. Almost all are patterned and exceptionally colorful. That's how the family got its common name.
@ 2Sweet - I hadn't thought of using this photo as a computer wallpaper, but now that you mention it...
Don't forget - everyone wear some blue on Monday, June 8 for World Oceans Day.
