The folks over at JournOwl.com have put together this very nice video about Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, one of our favorite ocean creatures. The narration of the video echoes much of what we said in our earlier article about Hawaiian green sea turtles.
P.S. There are many more sea turtle articles and photos on The Right Blue.
Very nice video, to be sure. The sea turtle is an amazing creature which is sadly endangered as a result of our insane need for massive quantities of fish.
ReplyDeleteHi ScienceGuy - Unfortunately many turtles have also been killed directly, not just as by-catch. Things seem to be looking up for them more recently. Federal + State protection does help.

Sea turtles are one of my favorite creature, too. In Greece we have the Careta-Careta turtles who have their eggs at the Greek islands (Zakinthos, Kefalonia) and they are adorable.
ReplyDeleteMahalo for sharing this youtube video about the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. Each time Hawaii visitors get really excited when they spot the turtles in the ocean on a snorkeling outing or when they see them sunbathing on one of our beaches.
ReplyDeleteBest chance to see them in the ocean or on land is in Puako on the Big Island!

@ Antigoni - I'm glad to hear that Caretta caretta turtles are still nesting in the Ionian islands.
ReplyDelete@ Pua You are so right! Puako is one of the best spots on the Big Island for seeing and watching Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles.
