Nice shot! What method do you employ for your underwater photos?
ReplyDeleteCan't say that it has a cute face, lol !
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot and it's so clear! It reminds me of another fish I like but I can't think of the name of it right now.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful allbeit sour looking fish and so well photographed. I scrolled down to see your other photos and I'm surprised i haven't been to your blog before. You have wonderful underwater shots. Every one of them.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone. Thank you for visiting, and for your comments.
ReplyDelete@ Bryan - The method: Put on scuba gear, pick up camera, enter water, find subject, shoot photo. :-D
(Seriously, for more info about the photos on The Right Blue, click here.)
@ Gattina - You're right: no prizes for "cute".
@ 2sweet - If you think of the fish it reminds you of, let us know. Maybe we have a photo of it.
@ luna miranda - Can't blame you for thinking of "steamed grouper." Groupers are good to eat!
@ Carletta - He probably was pouting -- as in: annoyed at having his picture taken.
@ Connie - LOL at "Angelina lips."
@ Mojo - Codsly? That's a riot!
@ Floreta - Definitely taken underwater. I've never photographed anything through an aquarium (although some people do that, with good results).

That fish has freckles...lol. Happy WW my friend. Great shot. Thanks for stopping by:)
ReplyDeleteAloha Bobbie,
ReplyDeleteSeeing all your great underwater photos like this one, I am wondering what a decent underwater camera costs? However, as I am just a snorkeler, it might not be worthwhile the investment...Pua

@ Lori - Yep, freckles AND stripes!
ReplyDelete@ Pua - Nice to 'see' you. Serious underwater photography can be quite an expensive proposition. There are some dedicated underwater cameras, and also some waterproof housings for 'regular' land use cameras. None of these is exactly cheap. Throw in the need for several kinds of lenses (wide-angle, macro), and one or more types of strobe/flash (essential for capturing the 'true' colors of critters and scenes, and you are talking many hundreds of dollars, and up. And, just like on land, the better quality cameras and equipment tend to yield better quality results (sharp and clear, as opposed to fuzzy and blurry).
Also, I don't want to sound discouraging, but it is actually quite difficult to capture really good underwater shots while snorkeling, mainly because you are mostly shooting DOWNWARD, so you make less good use of ambient light.
I suppose I should do a whole post on these topics one day. Thank you for the nudge. ;-}
